August 31, 2010

CaribWorldNews, LONDON, England, Tues. Aug. 31, 2010: Jamaica`s Usain `Lighting` Bolt`s rise to the top has now been captured in his own   illustrated biography.

The Bolt biography is due to be released on Thursday but the triple Olympian kicked off his book tour in London Monday with a stop on The One Show.

Bolt`s first autobiography is entitled `9.58` and is published by HarperSport. It tells of Bolt`s experience in at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing China where he broke the 100m and 200m world records and the immediate stardom it brought him.

The book also chronicles Bolt`s experience in Berlin Germany where he also lowered those world records to 9.58 in the 100-m and 19.19 in the 200-m.

`It`s about a skinny kid from the parish of Trelawny, where they harvest the best yams in the world. It`s about growing up playing cricket and football in the warm Jamaican sun, then discovering that he could run fast, very fast. It`s about family, friends and the laid-back Jamaican culture. It`s about Auntie Lillian`s pork and dumplings and Dad`s grocery store in the sleepy village of Sherwood Content,` said a release.

`It`s about what makes him tick, where he gets his motivation and where he takes his inspiration. It`s about the highs and the lows, the dedication and sacrifices required to get to the top. It`s about fast food, partying, dancehall music, fast cars and that lightning bolt pose. It`s about radiating sport`s biggest smile.`

Bolt co-authored the book with British journalist, Shaun Custis; and will pay a visit to the Sun`s headquarters where he will edit a few columns as part of his tour.

The book is over 280 pages and is complete with photographs, some of which has never been published. Harper Collins, UK is the publisher and will be distributed by Ian Randle Publishers in the Caribbean. It will sell for 20 pounds.
