Expect Special Things From Guyana Cricketers Says Captain

Sept. 9, 2010: Guyana cricket, Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan, is upbeat about his team`s chances in the Airtel Champions League competition.Sarwan, who arrived with the team in South Africa on Wednesday following weeks of controversy over match fees, insisted: `Trinidad and Tobago were the runners-up last time, and we hope to go one better. They did so well last year, when they weren`t expected to, and we beat them in the Caribbean T20, so that gives us lots of confidence.`Guyana earned the right to represent the regional at the Champions League when they won the West Indies Cricket Board`s Caribbean T20, beating Barbados in the final by one wicket with a ball to spare. Guyana will be in Group B.They will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday at SuperSport Park in Centurion, against Mumbai Indians on Thursday, September 16 at Kingsmead in Durban; against Highveld Lions on Sunday, September 19 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg; and return to the same venue two days later to face South Australia Redbacks.Sarwan added that he thought the T20 format was an ideal way for young players to be introduced to international cricket.
